Jeanne left a comment that I inadvertently deleted (so sorry!) about joining in on ... read more
My OMG for April was finishing the April challenge quilt, which had no name in March. The quilt was based on a pattern called Ruffles by Sew Be It. I ended up naming it Freeze Frame.
I painted the background fabric because I didn’t have anything in my stash that I liked with the reds I picked for the flower petals. The fabric in the flower center was painted years ago and textured with salt. I added a second layer of batting under the center that I thought made it too puffy. I added beads to the center to ...
read moreWe still have beeping in our house. It's not the smoke or carbon detector. I have a suspicion it's the sensor in the side door that needs a new battery. It's powered by something, so there must be a battery.
One more thing to deal with! It's these niggly little things that are time-consuming because you have to figure out how to fix them! And yes -- I checked the thermostat -- the batteries are fine.
My stretch session was excellent. I sure wish they would have classes for stretching. I know -- it's easy to do at ...
read moreSo FINALLY we get to the Sheep in Sweaters Tote! When I started the previous post, I discovered I’d never blogged about the turquoise tote, which is the forerunner and partner of this one! I will say now that I have finished this post (Part 2), it is LONG–but I wanted to be sure you got ALL the good info. If you’re here for just the totebag part, skim the embroidery bits! Thanks for reading!

This book was published in 2007 so I am sure that is when I started these blocks. I am at my mom’s this week and both time and space are limited here so I try to bring projects that don’t require a lot of planning, cutting, or thinking. My original intent was to make the quilt, but after aging for over 15 years, I will turn the blocks into pillows. I simply don’t need any more quilts!
Four blocks are pieced and fused and ...

Anisa Quilt 1 – Click to download
Check out this beautiful quilt! I designed Quilt 1 for the Anisa collection by Satin Moon Designs for Blank Quilting. These colors are gorgeous, and I can’t stop looking at them. I have been waiting for the collection to begin shipping to quilt stores so that I can post the quilts here.
Quilt 1 measures 40″ x 60″. The panel is so intricately designed that I decided to use simple ...

Here's a couple of exciting things about applique. Yes -- I'll share my progress on Enchanted Autumn later today.
I'm notorious for keeping small bits of things. They WILL come in handy one day - I know they will! So I saved bits of fusible web, and one day, I sorted through my fusible web bits. All the larger pieces were stacked in the cupboard, and all the bits ...
read moreAnother fantastic day with the Monday sewing group. If you haven't joined an online sewing group yet, you're missing some great entertainment. We chat about everything and anything, and it's just a hoot. We help each other, solve problems and actually get some work done! I think Zoom sewing groups or groups of any kind will never go away. Imagine if a friend moves away - they can still be part of the group. People from all over the world can participate!
I'm playing catchup today with some photos sitting here and no time to post them ...

Mystical Friends by Denise Russell
I made two projects featuring these magical creatures and I am so happy with how they turned out! The first is this baby quilt called Mystical Friends. It measures 36″ x 43″ and the blocks finish at 6″. I used fabrics from the Story Time collection by American Jane for Moda Fabrics. I love making bright-colored quilts for babies!
To be sure, I made baby quilts with pastel colors ...

What a GREAT day yesterday was! I did spend quite a bit of time (hours!) on the phone chatting to several people, but sometimes that's a necessity! I felt better; hopefully, they did as well. And one call was extremely motivating, and well, I'm just like my Dad -- I LOVE to talk. I think that's why Zoom works so well for me -- I get to talk! I don't need hugs - I just need to talk. But I listen also!
OK -- so I tried sleeping with the tape on my lips. It wasn't really a big ...

I have to say that I'm happy with figuring out my body clock, and I'm not good if it gets messed up! Thanks to an upset tummy from Miss Murphy, I didn't get a good sleep the night before, but last night? Perfect! Hence, I was up at ridiculous o'clock (for you), and I got so ...

Mellow Yellow Quilt 1
Mellow Yellow Quilt 1 is the first project I designed for Blank Quilting‘s Mellow Yellow collection. It measures 60″ x 72″ and the block size is 9″. The timeless appeal of this color palette makes this, and the next project, ideal for any home decor and perfect as gifts. The fabrics are to die for! Here are some of them:
The textures include paisleys ...

Last Saturday, after writing a pattern I decided I wanted to spend the rest of the day sewing. I actually wanted to see if I could make a quilt with some test blocks I had. You know that when I test blocks I try to use similar fabrics for many of them so, down the line, I can just put them together into a quilt. That was my mood that day.
The quilt above was the first one ...

Well, I did NOT get much done in the sewing department yesterday, and I'm OK with that. I went shopping instead! And there were two reasons for that. I have to take my car in today for a recall on the fuel pump. That requires that the gas tank be ¼ or less. I was at a half tank, so I had some gas to burn off. I'm just at the ¼ mark, so hopefully, that works for them.
It was a good trip as I found something that I didn't think I would find! Let's ...

This is Witches Party, the Halloween pattern I designed with my favorite Moda Fabrics collection for Halloween: Ghouls and Goodies. This is the third quilt I made with this collection (here are the other two), and I am not quite sure it will be the last. Why? Because of the bright colors, the dimensions of the motifs, the variety ...
